THE OLD WINE SKIN (1)

No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse.

Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved
Matthew 9v16-17

Well I will like to formally welcome you to another realm of unrecoverable expository into the sustainable blessing of God, because in His presence there is fullness of joy. In other words, you can never be in God’s presence and experience anything less than blessings; also the blessings of the Lord make rich and adds no sorrow. The type of blessings God gives are sustained and not air driven or sickness or calamity driven, no sorrow is attached to it.

The wine in this case study could be likened unto the Lords blessings and ways while the wine skin could be likened unto the mentality with which we or men embrace the blessings of the Lord.

In Matthew 9v17, Jesus was explaining what could be the outcome of the different mentalities and approach towards the blessings and ways of God. From His illustration He said that the new wine which is the way salvation present for doing things is or would be unacceptable to the old wine skin, He said that it will only result into a break of the wine skin which is the vessel itself, Ephesians 4v22-24. The old man cannot accommodate the new man so one has to leave for the other.

In an article I wrote some time ago on reprogramming the mind for maximum production, I discussed precisely the children of Israel leaving Egypt freed but not free from their ways and mentality; this made going back to Egypt their only option when they were hungry in the wilderness. They left Egypt but Egypt did not leave them. That is the same problem many Christians have today. A man who has been in prison for quite a long time suddenly regains his freedom by pardon especially when he doesn’t deserve it; when he gets home, for quite some time if you don’t force such a person to take a walk, he might be carrying the mentality of the imprisoned forgetting that he has been freed.

What am I trying to pass across to you friends? The moment you gain freedom from a particular predicament you exercise that freedom or else your imprisonment will no longer be physical but mental which is the most disastrous. You might say it is hard to adapt so quickly; then let me ask you my own question. Were you not expecting freedom? Well, the case of a life imprisoned man is understandable even then; he should be mentally receptive in his or her habit to march his or her new status.

Prayer Point
Father, let my sub-conscious be awakened to the fact that I am free indeed in Jesus name, Amen!

We are just beginning! See you tomorrow...
