Your
input to life determines your output which takes us to the law of sowing and
reaping upon which the existence of the earth is founded. It will continue to
be that way as long as the earth remains however, many today have plunged
themselves into one dungeon or the other is the bid to outsmart this simple but
very potent principle of a successful life.
Life
can be simply defined as give and receive. We must settle this in our minds
that God is not a magician; the shortest possible ways doesn’t interest i.e. He
doesn’t cut corners, not for anything. In as much as He didn’t do it for Jesus
even though He cried blood in the garden of Gethsemane for the cup of the
suffering on the cross to be taken away.
Friends,
the law of sowing and reaping are God’s will and no one can make Him to change
that. One of my mentors’s said “nothing will make God to do what He intends to
do today what He has purposed to do tomorrow”. Please do join me as I share the
thought “...on your way to Emmaus” Read Luke 24:13-31.
Emmaus is Your Destiny
Emmaus
according to our text is a destination certain of the disciples were heading
for. In the same vein, Emmaus is our destiny, that place of fulfilment and
accomplishment; the place of reward. The Holy Spirit whispered to me “write something on this topic...on your way
to Emmaus” and He specifically gave me the few subtopics I will be
expatiating on in a moment. So see Emmaus as your destiny in life, it is our
essence of living outside which you are fit for no other than the bin.
Befriend those going your way
Also
according to our text you will notice that there were two disciples on that
particular trip. This and many other examples like when Jesus sent out His
disciples in twos points us to God’s keenness on sending His Ambassadors out in
pairs of two. Moses and Aaron, Paul and Barnabas even marriages etc.
Hence,
God in His infinite wisdom has designed man such that hardly can he fulfil his
purpose without a companion which is not necessarily the opposite sex. Like in
the case of the disciples in our text, I assume that they were both male though
only one name was mentioned however, God likes fellowship and makes it
mandatory that we don’t neglect the gathering of the brethren.
Why
the companion you might want to ask me? The answer isn’t farfetched, our text
states that they were discussing Jesus as they travel but before we go far let
me point out that you will agree with me that journey are much faster and
stress-free in the company of a friend or colleague.
If you discuss anything more than Jesus
on a daily basis, you are off track to your Emmaus. He should be the centre of every discussion because
He is our life; as a matter on the contrary of what many believe He is the one
that keeps body and soul together. So, watch the company you keep. Advisably,
the company you should keep are those of people heading for their Emmaus just
like you. They are worth keeping as true friends; it is being said that if you
desire going up then you’ve got to hold on to someone at the top or heading for
the top and most definitely not someone at the bottom.
Watch
out for people who think your thoughts (Christ all the way) and flock with them
just like these disciples willingly imbibed the company of this supposed
stranger (Jesus) simply because He was going their way and much more interested
in their discussion.
What
do you do with the opportunities God has given you? What do you twit, facebook,
chat about, BBM, Ping etc? These are all platform through which you can discuss
Christ instead of the otherwise it is been used for today, discussing frivolous
issues instead of Christ. The disciples on their way to Emmaus as you saw in our
text used their time to ponder on Christ’s matter and guess what? The subject
i.e. Jesus Himself showed up. In other words, you cannot talk about Jesus
without Him showing up.
God bless you!
